Nathan Liang

Nathan is a second-year Ph.D. student in Social & Personality Psychology. He earned a B.S. in Psychology from Duke University in 2020. His research interests currently fall under two broad initiatives. First, he aims to study how we can cultivate norms of moral optimism that motivate us to see the best in others through increased empathy, mutual understanding, and social awareness. His second objective is to leverage behavioral science to optimize everyday contribution to the public good—be it in the form of optimizing donation behaviors, promoting sustainability, or reducing interpersonal and intergroup conflict. After hours, he will likely be found at the gym, playing soccer with friends, and attempting ambitious new culinary recipes—usually in that order.
